A 23-year-old man died at the scene of an accident this morning on the Zorg Public Road, Essequibo, after the vehicle he was driving crashed into an electrical post.

Dead is Shankar Ram known as ‘Kevin’, who was employed as an Inspector with the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) and who resided at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The female occupant of the vehicle has been identified as Donitta Ramlackhan of Enmore, ECD, who is an unconscious state at the Suddie Hospital. She is also employed by the GEA as an Inspector.

News Room understands that Shankar was driving GEA’s vehicle – PJJ 1069 – north along the western side of the public road when he crashed into the GPL pole and the vehicle turned turtle.

Reports indicate that Shankar was flung out of the vehicle and found lying on the parapet by a passing police patrol who took both persons to the Suddie Hospital. Shankar was pronounced dead on arrival.

Shankar leaves to mourn his wife and other relatives.
