Rose to lead Guyana at CBC Championship

Stanton Rose has been appointed captain of Guyana’s Men’s squad to compete at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championship in Suriname.

The Championship, which is the FIBA AmeriCup 2021 Caribbean Pre-qualifiers, will run from June 22-30. Rose will lead the squad of 12, which was announced by the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation.

At 18, Rose is the youngest ever captain of the senior national team, which includes five overseas-based players.

The quintet includes two professional players – Anthony Moe, based in the USA and Felix Hamilton, based in Antigua- two former USA College players Ray Victor and Denzel Devonish; along with Berbice born 17-year-old Kevon Wiggins, the youngest player in team.

The squad reads: Stanton Rose (Captain), Harold Adams, Orland Glasgow, Shaine Webster, Ray Victor, Anthony Moe, Travis Burnett, Felix Hamilton, Travis Belgrave, Denzel Devonish, Timothy Thompson and Kevon Wiggins.

The Head Coach is Junior Hercules, while Dennis Clarke is Assistant Coach and Nigel Hinds Manager. The players will depart for Suriname on June 22 and play their first game two days later against Grenada at the Anthony Nesty Indoor Stadium.
