CPL: Amazon Warriors to assemble on August 2 for preparation camp

The majority of the Guyana Amazon Warriors players are expected to assemble on August 2 to commence preparation for their 2018 campaign in the sixth Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The preparation camp is annual feature of the Amazon Warriors and according to Operations Manager Omar Khan, the international players, who have contractual commitments with foreign leagues will arrive on the following day for the camp.

The camp will be held at the National Stadium, Providence, ahead of the Warriors’ first match on August 9 against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The tournament will run from August 8 to September 16.

The camp will put the spotlight on players’ fitness and in the past Jason Pilgrim (Physio); Clinton Jeremiah (Fitness Coach) and Kurlyn Smith-Nicholas (Masseuse) have led the charge in that regards.

Questioned on whether the services of Roger Harper and Esaun Crandon would be retained for the positions of Head Coach and Assistant Coach respectively, Khan stated that before end of this week, the franchise would make an announcement on who will be taking up those posts, in addition to that of captain.

Also, Khan, who has been managing the team throughout the six years of the league, could not confirm whether GTT will continue as the team’s flagship sponsor.
