Forty-three-year-old Nicole Rosemary appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm on a 6-year-boy after she allegedly burned his hands with an iron.

Rosemary pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that the incident occurred between June 1 and June 14, 2018, at Bent Street, Werk-en-rust.

She was represented by Attorney-at-law Tiffany Jeffery, who told the court that the woman is the guardian of the little boy.

The lawyer said she was instructed by her client that the little boy was caught playing with the iron and Rosemary attempted to take it away during which he was brunt.

However, Police Prosecutor Sanj Singh told the court that a teacher saw the marks on the child’s hands and reported the matter to the Child Care and Protection Agency.

A further investigation revealed that Rosemary plugged in the iron and burnt both of the little boy’s hands.

The prosecutor objected to the woman being released on bail citing the seriousness of the charge.

Nevertheless, the Magistrate released Rosemary on $100,000 bail and adjourned the case until July 20. She was also ordered not to make contact with the victim. The little boy is currently in the care of the Child Care and Protection Agency.
