Cops block man from throwing ganja into New Amsterdam prison
Vigilant police and prison officers Saturday afternoon prevented a civilian from throwing cannabis into the New Amsterdam Prison compound.
Prison Director (ag) Gladwin Samuels said around 15:30hrs, the officers noticed the civilian was preparing to throw some items over the fence.
They quickly tried to apprehend the person but he managed to flee the scene.
Samuels said he left behind several packages containing seeds, leaves and stems, suspected to be marijuana.
In light of this incident, the Prison Director is warning members of the public that they will face the full force of the law if they attempt to introduce contraband items into the prisons.
