Five Guyanese have been named in a 12-man squad to face Bangladesh in a two-day encounter at the Coolidge Cricket Ground, starting Thursday (June 28).

Batsmen Shimron Hetmyer, Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Vishaul Singh, all-rounder Romario Shepherd and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie are the Guyanese in the squad.

Fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who is recovering from a stress fracture injury sustained last year in New Zealand, has also been named in the squad.

Since April he has been involved in an intense programme focused on bowling and strength and conditioning. Joseph also played in an Antigua-based T20 competition last month.

The squad reads: Shamarh Brooks – Captain, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Jahmar Hamilton, Shimron Hetmyer, Alzarri Joseph, Keon Harding, Shayne Moseley, Gudakesh Motie, Romario Shepherd, Vishaul Singh and Odean Smith.

The support staff are Graeme West – Head Coach, Sir Curtly Ambrose – Assistant Coach, Physio – Dr Oba Gulston and William Richards – Strength and Conditioning.

The match will get underway at 09:00h on each day.

The first Test will also be in Antigua at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground from July 4–8. The West Indies just completed a drawn Three-Test series against Sri Lanka.
