Man shoots Landlord during row over GPL bill

Police are on the hunt for 30-year-old Arif Abdool who shot his Landlord this morning at Kaneville Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara during an argument about a bill from the Guyana Power and Light Company.

Police said that 47-year-old Andrew Doris, a medic at the Veteran’s Home, went to the suspect’s apartment at around 9am to inquire about the bill when he attempted to lock the door, however, Doris held on to the door and the suspect ran further into the apartment and picked up a gun.

He fired two shots into the air and then shot Doris in the left thigh and right knee and then escaped on a bicycle.

Police said three 40 shells were found in the yard. Doris is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

News Room understands that Doris rents the southeastern half of the lower flat of his house to the suspect.
