Sophia vendor shot, police on the hunt for ‘Struggle’
A 43-year-old vendor of Lot 48 ‘C’ Field Sophia, East Coast Demerara (ECD) is nursing a gunshot wound to his left shoulder at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was shot by a man known as “Struggle” on Thursday afternoon.
Information reaching News Room revealed that the victim, Shawn Joseph, was heading to a shop in Leopold Street, Georgetown around 17:00hrs through Conrad’s Inn compound when he was confronted by “Struggle.”
It is alleged that an argument ensued between the two men who had a previous misunderstanding.
It is alleged that “Struggle” broke a beer bottle and attacked Joseph who retaliated with a knife that he had in his possession.
Joseph later told investigators that shortly after brandishing his knife, he heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation to the upper left part of his back.
He said he lost consciousness and then woke up in an ambulance. Police are on the hunt for the suspect.
