Major hype as CPL ticket sales get underway in Guyana

The sixth edition of the Biggest Party in Sport, the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL), is just three weeks away and with Trinidad and Tobago along with Guyana hosting the opening matches, the local organisers here in Georgetown officially began retailing tickets on Thursday at their Camp and Quamina Street location.

Early hours into the sales, there was a sizeable gathering of persons who wanted to ensure they did not miss out on a chance to see the Guyana Amazon Warriors in action at the National Stadium, Providence.

The Warriors have five home matches and there are two playoff matches which takes the total tally to seven.

However, tickets are only currently available for the first three matches which are in August. According to the organisers, tickets for the matches in September will be released at a later date.

The first three home matches scheduled to be played at the Providence Stadium as follows:

  • Thursday 9th August – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St. Kitts Patriots at 18:00h
  • Saturday 11th August – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St Lucia Stars at 16:00h
  • Sunday 12th August – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Barbados Tridents at 18:00h

The final two group matches are on September 8 [Jamaica Tallawahs] and September 9 [Trinbago Knight Riders].

Omar Khan, Guyana Amazon Warriors Operations Manager and John Ramsingh, Media and Marketing Manager, urged fans to come out in their numbers since there is a lot of international stars set to be on show.

Tickets are now being produced by Book My Show.com and the cost for Red and Green Stands ($5,000), Orange Stand ($3,000) and Grass Mound ($2,500). Car Passes for the tarmac inside the stadium are being priced at $1,500 while the outer parking lot is $500.

No more than ten tickets can be purchased by one person per match and all seats will be numbered. Additionally, sales will begin in Berbice next week but no office will be established in Essequibo this year.

As it relates to the 2018 merchandise, Khan stated the kits have arrived and will be available for retail next week. Those kits will carry new branding, as ExxonMobil has replaced GTT as the Warriors flagship sponsor.
