Bandits attack Water St. Money Changer

Police are investigating the armed robbery of 57-year-old Wazir Khan, a Money Changer, which occurred at around 8am Saturday in the vicinity of the old KFC building on Water Street, Georgetown.

News Room understands that Khan of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, was robbed of local, pounds, TT and US currency amounting to $400,000 by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.

Police said that the victim knows one of the bandits. Investigators were informed that the victim was plying his trade when the suspects attacked him, pointed a gun at his face and ordered that he hand over the money.

The victim threw away the money but the suspects quickly picked it up and escaped through the Route 45 bus park.

No one has been arrested and investigations are ongoing.
