    A 39-year-old Painter of Lot 192 Back Street, Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) was today charged with robbery under arms committed on Gayatri Boodramlall of Lot 278 Patentia West Bank Demerara (WBD).

    Reports are that Edward Gudge, along with two accomplices robbed the woman, a 38-year-old housewife, of items valuing $2,134,000 at her Patentia home on June, 01.

    News Room understands that Gudge was arrested on July 19, at his home following information received and was taken to the Wales Police Station where he was positively identified by the woman during an identification parade.

    At the time of his arrest, his right leg was broken end the accused told the police that he suffered the injury during a recent accident.

    The court heard that Gudge was armed with a handgun and stole a quantity of Jewelry valued $440,000; a quantity of Cigarettes valued $48,000; alcohol valued $396,000; phone cards valued $642,000; one DVR valued $108,000 and $500,000 cash.

    Gudge appeared before Magistrate Crystal Lambert at the Vreed-En-Hoop Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $200,000.

    The case has been adjourned to August 09 and transferred to the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
