A man was on Friday night robbed of $80,000 cash and his gold chain valued $98,000 by a friend with whom he was going to purchase marijuana.

According to information reaching the News Room, 23-year-old Tirace Fraser of Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, was walking along Cemetery Road with Akeem called ‘Black Boy’ at around 21:15hrs, on their way to “purchase weed.”

It is alleged that ‘Black Boy’ asked the victim for $1,000 to purchase the item, but as the victim took out the money to give the suspect who was walking behind him, he heard a gunshot and began running.

The suspect gave chase and the victim subsequently fell to the ground. As a result, the suspect snatched the chain from around his neck.

Fearful for his life, Fraser reportedly handed over the cash, but this did not stop the suspect from shooting him to his right shoulder.

Fraser was picked up and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was admitted and is in a stable condition.

Investigations are ongoing.
