On return from the most successful Americas and Caribbean Cup championship tournament which was held in Trinidad and Tobago from July 6-16, the Guyana Darts Association (GDA) has recognised there is an urgent need to have youths actively involved in darts, which is not widely played in this country.

Guyana’s contingent has been without any youth participation for the last two tournaments. In high spirit as a result of their success at that tournament, Sudesh Fitzgerald in collaboration with the GDA will be hosting an inaugural Youth Challenge today (August 3) at the Malteenoes Sports Complex, Thomas lands.

This tournament will commence at 18:00h, and is open to both male and female with two categories, namely Under-15 and Under-18.

Registration is free and players will be given a free set of darts, while refreshments would be provided. Trophies would also be up for grabs.

“Parents are asked to bring out the children to participate in this event as the GDA aspires to capture the next Americas and Caribbean Cup Championship Youth Tournament, which will be held in Jamaica 2020,” the GDA said.

The GDA would like to express thanks for the support of Dr. Terence Joseph, Vernon Persaud, Sudesh Fitzgerald, Sheik Yaseen, Brian Valz, Melisa Smartt, Sherwyn Greene, Troy of Malteenoes Sports Complex and Granny Bar.
