Bartica man dies after struck down by minibus
A Bartica man has succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was struck down by a minibus at Prospect, East Bank Demerara Wednesday night.
Dead is Franklyn Dover, 43 of Lot ‘L’ First Street, Bartica. The accident occurred at about 20:00hrs and Dover succumbed some three hours later.
Police said the 33-year-old driver of minibus BVV 2848 claimed he was proceeding south when Dover ran across the road.
Dover received injuries about his body and was rushed to the East Demerara Regional Hospital in an unconscious state; he was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving medical attention.
A breathalyzer test administered to the driver did not detect any alcohol.
Dover’s body is presently at Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The Police investigation is in progress.
