Three young men died in the wee hours Sunday after the car they were in crashed into a parked truck on the La Grange Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD); a survivor of the accident is said to be in a critical condition at the West Demerara Regional Hospital.
Dead are 33-year-old Leroy Levans, a contractor of Nismes, WBD who was the driver of the car PDD 7182; Devindra Hardyal, 25, a promoter of 30 Public Road, La Grange and 20-year-old Rishi Pasha of lot 3 La Grange.
Police said 22-year-old David Bourne of Goed Fortuin, remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police investigations thus far found that the young men were at a party at Stanleytown, WBD and was heading to Goed Fortuin to drop off Bourne when tragedy struck.
A police statement noted that the driver was proceeding north along the western carriageway, reportedly at a fast rate of speed, lost control and collided with the Lorry which was properly parked on the parapet of the western side of the road.
Devon and Hardyal were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital; Pasha died about 07:00hrs.
EDITOR’S NOTE: This story initially stated that the driver’s name was Jonar Devon – a name which was provided by the Guyana Police Force. However, the Force subsequently said the man’s correct name is Leroy Levans. Meanwhile, the survivor has since been transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
