Senior national basketball captain Stanton Rose is the beneficiary of a scholarship to attend Jacksonville College in Texas, United States of America.

At the recent Caribbean Basketball Championships held in Suriname, Rose was deemed the Most Valuable Player and was the youngest ever, at 18 years old, to captain a Guyana senior national team.

According to a release by the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation (GABF), “Rose is the first Guyanese player to score 41 points in a single game at the senior Caribbean Championships 2018.

Rose will commence college semester from Monday 20 and will, therefore, be departing this week.”

The GABF added that it “spent in excess of $20 million for participation in the male and female CBC championships 2018. This undertaking was done with no financial assistance from our government nor the Guyana Olympic Association.”

The federation congratulates Rose for his commitment and dedication to Guyana and wishes him further success in his life and basketball career.
