Female driver dies after crashing into truck

A 44-year-old woman was killed after she crashed into the rear of a motor lorry on the Good Hope Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Carlotta James of Middle Walk, Buxton, ECD was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital in the wee hours Saturday.

News Room understands that around 02:00hrs, the car she was driving, PHH 67, was proceeding east along the northern side of the road.

She was driving behind the truck, GPP 143.

The truck driver, 31, told investigators that he slowed down and indicated to turn south when the motorcar slammed into his rear.

News Room understands that the woman was taken to the hospital by police officers but she had already died on spot.

The truck driver passed a breathylzer test and was taken into custody.
