George Butters appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Tuesday, accused of raping two women in their homes on the Essequibo Coast.
Butters was not required to plea to the two counts of rape. The first charge alleged that on August 13, 2018, he engaged in sexual penetration with a woman without her consent.
It is also alleged that he raped another woman between August 20 and August 21 in Essequibo after breaking into her house.
He was granted $200,000 bail on each count and the case was transferred to the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court for September 11.
The charges stem from an ongoing police investigation into a series of home invasions on the Essequibo Coast
News Room understands that Butters is expected to face more charges.
