GKMS backs team Guyana in Santo Domingo
GraceKennedy Money Services (GKMS), the agent of Western Union in Guyana, is celebrating 25 years of dedicated service to the country and as part of its commemoration of this milestone, the company has assisted the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) in its bid for supremacy at the Caribbean Pre-Cadet Table Tennis Championships, currently taking place in the Dominican Republic.
The GTTA assembled 16 of its most talented, disciplined, scholastically inclined and brightest players to represent the country at these games and had reached out to corporate Guyana for assistance in sending the young charges to the August 24 to September 1 championship.
According to GTTA President, Godfrey Munroe, the players selected represent the next generation and nursery of Guyana’s future champions. The players have been consistent in tournaments, while exemplifying and demonstrating great work ethics at a tender age.
“We believe that our boys 13 years and under team includes a very formidable group of players and are strong candidates for medal performances and selection to the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Hopes programme,” Munroe stated.
To this end, GraceKennedy Money Services presented a sponsorship cheque to the association prior to their departure for the Dominican Republic. The sponsorship will assist in the air fare and accommodation of a team member, who is also fulfilling their dream of representing the Golden Arrowhead.
The presentation was done by Western Union’s Marketing Assistant, Tina Seabra, to GTTA Treasurer, Nkechi Mc Rae, and other members of the team at the GKMS offices on Water Street, Georgetown.
The Caribbean Cadet and Junior Championships is for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 13 years and under in the Caribbean region.
lt is a signature competition on the GTTA’s and Caribbean’s calendar of events, since its forms the basis for regional table tennis supremacy and incubator for the development of young emerging table tennis talents and platform from which all of the region table tennis stars commence their journey.
