The elderly man was found dead at his Annandale, East Coast Demerara home on Monday night with injuries to the head and right eye.

Investigators found one of the rooms in the house ransacked but could not immediately say if anything is missing.

It appeared as if the bandit or bandits gained entry to the house from the back door.

News Room understands that the man’s daughter, who is a lecturer at the University of Guyana, contacted the police after she failed to make contact with him on Monday.

A party of policemen responded when they made the gruesome discovery. News Room understands that about a month ago, the man and his wife were tied up and beaten badly by bandits.

According to a resident in the area, who did not want her identity revealed, the man’s wife was hospitalized for several days after the home invasion and refused to return to the house after she was released from the hospital.
