VIDEO: Alleged child killer to undergo psychiatric evaluation

The 26-year-old mother who fatally stabbed her three-year-old son on Saturday last will undergo a psychiatric evaluation as ordered by Magistrate Peter Hugh.

Brenda Ferreira appeared at the Cove and John Magistrate’s Court Wednesday morning charged with murder.

The unrepresented woman was not required to plea to the indictable charge and was remanded until September 12, 2018.

When asked by reporters as she was exiting the courtroom, the woman said she was sorry for killing her youngest child.

Ramdeo Ferreira was found in a pool of blood at their Lot 585 15th Street, Foulis, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home.

His mother had reportedly told investigators that she took her son’s life because she had a dream she was going to die and wanted her favourite child to be with her in the afterlife.
