Twenty-three-year-old Romel Bollers was remanded to prison Wednesday by Magistrate Leron Daly on a simple larceny charge.

Bollers pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on August 22, 2018, at Agricola, East Bank Demerara, he stole from Tanya Drakes, a gold chain along with a pendant valued at $80,000.

The court heard that on the day in question, the victim was standing at the head of the Agricola road when Bollers snatched the chain off her neck and escaped.

Police Prosecutor, Sanj Singh objected to bail on the grounds that he is a repeat offender and has prior convictions.

Bollers was remanded until October 10, 2018.
