A 33-year-old businessman of Pearl Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD) is under guard at the Bartica Regional Hospital nursing a fractured leg, after he rode into a police ATV.
According to the police report, two ranks attempted to arrest the businessman at Puruni Landing, Region Seven on Friday when the businessman drew a handgun and threatened to shoot them.
The ranks reportedly retreated and returned with others on Saturday morning on two ATVs.
The suspect was spotted on a motorcycle and when signaled to stop, reportedly rode into one of the ATVs and injured his left leg.
He was arrested and a search on his person revealed an unlicensed.38 Special Ruger Revolver with three live rounds along with a haversack containing 137 grams of cannabis.
Investigations are ongoing.
