A 44-year-old father was on Wednesday charged for the murder of his 21-year-old, son Satesh Sookdeo.
It is alleged that Mohan Sookdeo called “Wire,” on September 8, 2018, at Lot 217, Foulis, East Coast Demerara murdered his son.
He was not required to plea to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Wanda Fortune at the Cove and John Magistrates’ Court.
He represented by Lawyer Haymant Ramdhani and was remanded to prison until October 2.
Satesh ‘Kevin’ Sookdeo met his gruesome death when he tried to save his mother who was being choked and assaulted.
Police Headquarters said that the father was in an argument with his wife at their home at around 20:35hrs Saturday last when he held the woman by the neck and began to choke her.
It was then that the younger Sookdeo and another sibling intervened and the father allegedly broke a louvre and fatally stabbed Kevin in the stomach.
