A 52-year-old housekeeper was on Friday afternoon robbed by armed bicycle bandits as she was walking to her home from a supermarket on Sheriff Street, Georgetown.
The incident occurred in the vicinity of Stone Avenue, Campbellville. News Room understands that the woman, who resides in Campbellville Housing Scheme, had just left the supermarket when two unidentifiable males approached on a bicycle.
Reports are that one of the men pointed a handgun at the woman and demanded her valuables. The victim reportedly dropped her handbag valuing $4,500 which the perpetrators grabbed and escaped.
Checks were later made by police but the suspects were not found. The handbag contained a Samsung smartphone worth $75,000, $12,000 in cash and other valuables.
Investigations are ongoing.
