Bus conductor charged with rape of schoolgirl

A bus conductor was on Monday placed before the Chief Magistrates Ann McLennan and charged for raping a 14-year-old school girl.

Ashel Williams was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that he raped the girl on October 7, 2015 at Plum Park, Sophia, Georgetown.

He was charged jointly with his bus driver Sherwayne Brant, who did not show up at court, causing an arrest warrant to be issued for his arrest.

Williams was unrepresented and was released on $300,000 bail. The matter is adjourned until September 24.

According to reports, on the day in question, Williams was the conductor while Brant was the driver of the minibus, and drove away with the teen inside the vehicle.

The two men allegedly took the teen to a house in Plum Park, Sophia where they raped her. The teen told her parents and they reported the matter to the police.
