A 20-year-old labourer of lot 100 Block 22 Squatting Area Wismar, Linden is now dead after he was crushed by a log at his place of employment.
News Room understands that Stephan Brathwaite called ‘Grinch’ was servicing a truck at R.I Forest Products, Sawmill and Lumber yard located in Linden and went under the vehicle to acquire fuel from the tank to put into a filter.
Reports are that the truck was packed with logs which were being offloaded at the time.
It was noted that in the process of conducting his duty, one of the logs slid off of the truck and pinned him to the ground across his abdomen and thighs causing his intestine to protrude.
Employees who heard a brief scream rushed to his assistance and managed to remove the log.
He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigation ongoing.
