Guyana has received US$900,000 in grant assistance from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to support the rice sector.

Minister of Finance Winston Jordan signed the so-called Reverse Linkage project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The project will assist in updating Guyana’s expertise and technology in rice production as well as introduce innovative rice varieties in Guyana.

Guyana exported US$200 million worth of rice in 2017.

“We are a little country, but our focus is strong, and our potential is enormous,” Minister Jordan told those gathered at an event.
