‘Fifty’ charged with murder of Linden’s Leroy Baron
Travis Hazel, 31, also known as “Fifty” was on Friday charged for the murder of Linden resident, Leroy Baron.
Hazel appeared before the Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that on September 15,2018 at Linden, he caused injuries to 49-year-old Baron, which resulted in his death.
Hazel was remanded to prison until October 8 and his matter was transferred to the Linden Magistrates Court.
Baron, who was known for doing odd jobs at the Mackenzie Market, Linden, died after he was severely beaten by Hazel.
According to the police, Barron and the suspect had an argument during which the suspect allegedly armed himself with a piece of wood and gave the victim a severe beating.
A manhunt was launched for the suspect who hails from Silvercity, Wismar, Linden which resulted in his arrest days after.
