A couple was Saturday night robbed at gunpoint by a lone bandit at Dhanrad Street, Newtown, Kitty, Georgetown.
Michael Francois-Johnson, 34, of Dhanrad Street and Dasha Cummings, 35, of Stewartville, West Coast Demerara were engrossed in a conversation when an armed man approached around 22:00hrs and demanded they hand over their valuables.
Francois-Johnson was robbed of a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued $60,000, a gold ban worth $100,000 and a gold chain costing $130,000.
Cummings was robbed of a gold chain valued $80,000 and a pair of gold earrings worth $12,000. Police have launched an investigation.
