Limacol Football: Police, GFC to clash in quarter-finals

The round-robin stage of the third Limacol Football tournament has been completed and one of the blockbuster quarter-final clashes will be Guyana Police Force FC versus Georgetown Football Club (GFC).

Both teams have had mixed performances in the group stages, but GFC, a former Elite league team, and Police, a raging force on the rise, will collide on Tuesday (September 25) at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue from 20:00h. The other match on that day pits Riddim Squad against Beacon FC from 18:00h.

On Thursday (September 27), the quarter-final action continues with Mahaica Determinators playing Pouderoyen from 18:00h, followed by Santos FC and Buxton Stars at 20:00h.

The semi-finals are set for Sunday (September 30), and the winners from the first two knock-out matches will clash, likewise for the latter. The final is billed for Friday (October 5).

In final group matches on Saturday (September 22), Determinators edged Northern Rangers 1-0 to leave the latter winless. Dellon Charles made the difference in the 75th minute. Stars sealed their fate with another rousing display.

Kenaz DeCambra scored a penalty in the 46th which was followed by the youthful playmaker Shamar Scott in the 85th.

The winners will pocket $600,000, second $300,000, third $150,00 and fourth $75,000. Western Tigers won last year’s competition with a 1-0 success over Guyana Police Force FC.
