Guyana/Suriname Caribbean Airlines has joined with KFC Guyana in supporting the inaugural Goodwill football tournament.

The airline on Tuesday presented five tickets to coordinators, Petra Organisation, and promised to provide discount rates for the 22-memeber team Shiva Boys’ Hindu College from Trinidad and Tobago who are expected to arrive on December 13.

Dion Inniss, Sales Executive of the airline, stated at the simple presentation ceremony held at Spice Garden Restaurant, “We are indeed happy to be associated with this tournament. When Petra approached it was quite an easy decision. We are pleased with the work of the organisation over the years and their focus on highlighting social issues by using youth football.”

Inniss further explained they like the idea of promoting regional sports and challenged Petra to “don’t stop at this venture and expand to the likes of Suriname for which they will support when they come knocking.”

In response, Troy Mendoca, Co-Director of Petra, expressed his delight for the continued support by the corporate sector for football.

On the aspects the airline tickets, he noted, “It is always difficult to get seats at that time [December] and we are very appreciative the help they are giving.”

The Under-18 male school football tournament will kick off on December 15, with other playing dates being the 18th, 22nd and the final on 23rd at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

The other participating teams are Annai Secondary, along with the top two finishers from the GuyOil School league, which kicks-off on October 6.
