A 23-year-old Banks DIH employee was on Tuesday night killed after he lost control of the car he was driving on the Esplanade Public Road, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Dead is Andy Gajadhar of 10 Rose Hall, East Canje, Berbice.
Police enquiries found that Gajadhar was speeding along the western carriageway of the road in motor car PTT 7593, when he lost control and collided with a utility pole.
The incident occurred at about 21:00hrs.
It took rescuers almost two hours to remove the body from the mangled vehicle, the Police said.
Gajadhar was pronounced dead at the accident scene by doctors.
The body is presently at the New Amsterdam Hospital Mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
