The Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) will be hosting the annual Lennox Blackmore National Intermediate Boxing Championships from October 5-7 at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
GBA President Steve Ninvalle told News Room Sport on Wednesday, the championships will bring boxers from Regions One, Four, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine and 10 to three days of intense action.
According to Ninvalle, though Guyana Defence Force (GDF) gym stands as defending champions, the Prisoners who returned to competitive action earlier this year have been producing telling performances.
After the Intermediate, the nationals will be held in mid-November from which a team will be selected for encampment for the Caribbean championships, which Guyana hosts from December 6-9.
In 2017, GDF captured eight of nine Elite Class titles while ambushing an equal number of runner-up spots and was declared Champion Gym.
On the first night, 15 fights are expected when action gets underway at 19:30h.
