Motorcyclist killed in West Berbice accident
Police are investigating an accident which claimed the life of a 30-year-old cane harvester of Lot 1 A Cotton Tree West Coast Berbice (WCB).
A statement from the police headquarters said Reagan Garrett was proceeding west along the southern side of the Number 6 public road, WCB on his motorcycle CJ 4494. He reportedly lost control while negotiating a turn and collided with a concrete bridge on the southern side of the road.
The incident occurred at about 15:00hrs on Thursday.
He was picked up in an unconscious condition and taken to Fort Wellington Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said Ali was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. It is also alleged that he was imbibing at the Cotton Tree Play Ground and had just departed to purchase ice when the incident occurred.
