26-Y-O killed, friend critical following accident

A resident of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown has succumbed to injuries he sustained during an accident at Carmichael and Middle streets, Georgetown at about 01:50hrs on Sunday.

News Room understands that 26-year-old Jason Marks was a passenger in motor jeep PMM 528 when it collided with Motorcar PRR 4249, driven by a 25-year-old resident of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (WCB) which reportedly failed to stop at the intersection.

Also in the jeep were 26- year-old Timothy Fairbian, 26 of 212 Charlotte Street, Georgetown, who is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital; and a 17-year old who was treated for injuries and sent away.

The occupants were rushed to the Georgetown Public hospital by public-spirited citizens and Marks succumbed while receiving treatment.

A breathalyzer test was conducted on both drivers and they were found to be above the prescribed limit. As such, they were arrested and remain in custody where they are assisting with the investigation.
