Gunmen rob patrons at Grove shop

Police are investigating a robbery under arms which occurred at a shop at First Street, Grove Squatting Area, East Bank Demerara (EBD) at about 22:00 hours on Saturday.

Reports are that 40-year-old Wazeem Hussain, a minibus driver, along with 35-year-old Mark Richman, a conductor, both of Golden Grove, EBD, were at the shop when two suspects, armed with handguns, entered the premises and pointed their weapons at the men and ordered everyone to lie on the floor.

The suspects then proceeded to rob the two men and discharged a round towards the concrete flooring as they fled.

Hussain was robbed of an undisclosed sum of cash, a quantity of documents and one Samsung cellular phone value $30,000; Richman was robbed of one BLU cellular phone valued at $14,500 and $20,000 cash.

No one was arrested.
