Triumph trio disarm robber, takes him to Police

A 21-year-old robber was taken by surprise on Monday night when he was relieved of an unlicensed .32 revolver when he attempted to rob three men at Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.

News Room understands that the suspect, of Triumph Village, East Coast Demerara (ECD), pounced on the victims and relieved a 41-year-old refrigeration technician of his gold necklace. However, he was quickly subdued, disarmed and handed over to the Police who responded to the scene.

The handgun taken from the suspect was loaded with five live rounds and a spent shell. Additionally, a search on the Triumph resident found six other live rounds.

Police are also questioning the suspect in relation to several armed robberies.
