In an another expression of its commitment to fulfilling its corporate/social responsibility, Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies has renewed its sponsorship of the annual 11-race cycling programme in the National Park.

The cycling event, to be held on the inner circuit, will pedal off at 09:00h on Saturday (October 6) and is being organised by national cycling coach, Hassan Mohamed.

This is the 14th year the insurance company is sponsoring the event, a clear indication of its desire to provide an avenue for cyclists to hone their skills.

Mohamed, in accepting the sponsorship cheque from Business Development personnel Soma Bharrat this week, said he is extremely grateful for the support, noting that such consistent sponsorship can only serve to enhance the sport locally.

Geron Williams of Continental Cycle Club is set to defend his title in the demanding 35-lap School Boys and Invitational race, having won last year’s event in a time of one hour, 16 minutes, 16 seconds.

Other winners in 2017 were Jonathan Ramsuchit (12-14 BMX), Warren McKay (Veterans Under-50), Shane Bourne (Mountain Bikes) and Nigel Duguid Jr (Juniors/Juveniles).

Representatives of Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Companies, including Marketing Director Shafeena Juman, are expected to witness the races and later assist in the presentation of prizes.

The top three finishers in each category will be rewarded.
