Grove resident accused of $1.4M robbery
A 31-year-old Grove, East Bank Demerara resident was on Thursday remanded to prison for allegedly robbing a man of over $1.4M worth of jewellery during an armed robbery.
Leonard Farley known as “Nelly” appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and pleaded not guilty to the armed robbery charge.
It is alleged that on September 29, 2018, at Black and White Bridge, East Le Penitence, Farley was armed with a gun and robbed Wayne Brakes of 12 gold chains valued just over $1.2M along with a gold band worth $205,000.
He was represented by Attorney-at-law George Thomas whose bail application was denied.
Magistrate Latchman remanded Farley to prison until October 10.
