Men busted with cocaine, guns & ammo by CANU

Three men have been taken into custody after they were busted with over five kilograms of cocaine and illegal guns, officials said.

The men were about to make an exchange on the Rupert Craig Highway in the vicinity of the Kitty Seawall on Wednesday when they were intercepted by ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU).

Approximately 5.6 kilograms of cocaine was confiscated on the spot, and an additional 6.6 grams was discovered at one of the suspect’s home at Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

CANU said Aundre Singh of Diamond, EBD was driving motorcar PSS 8977 with Oneil Charan of Sandy Babb Street, Kitty as a passenger. They were being followed by Clifford Gouveia of Little Abary, East Coast Demerara (ECD) who was driving motorcar PLL 5213.

The Unit said after its ranks intercepted the initial exchange of the illegal substance, which was hidden with beauty products, they searched Singh’s Diamond home.

There, they seized a large quantity of cash, an unlicensed Taurus Revolver and one pistol, both with matching ammunition.

Police have since launched an investigation.
