Jamaica Scorpions started their Super50 campaign in convincing fashion, comfortably beating Combined Campuses and Colleges Marooners (CCC Marooners), while Barbados Pride and Leeward Islands Hurricanes had an equal share of the points after a no-result on Thursday.

Scorpions whipped CCC Marooners by seven wickets, and rain forced the abandonment of the other game.

At the Three Ws Oval, CCC Marooners batted first and chalked up 219-8 with Khesan Cottoy and Keron Cottoy hitting 43 and 40 respectively, and Amir Jangoo chipping in with 30. Nikita Miller picked up 3-35 off nine overs and Oshane Thomas 2-41 off seven.

Scorpions, in reply, stumbled to 85-3 when Jermaine Blackwood fell for 36. However, Rovman Powell and Andre McCarthy snatched the game away from the Marooners, adding an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 135 in 17.5 overs to seal the win.

Powell smashed six sixes and two fours in 79 not out off 64 balls and McCarthy struck four fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 69-ball 72.

Over at the Kensington Oval, Barbados Pride posted 181-9 with Kevin Stoute making 66 and Shamarh Brooks 53. Jeremiah Louis bagged 5-33 from eight overs, while Rakheem Cornwall had 2-35 off 10 and Sheldon Cottrell 2-36 off nine.

Leeward Islands Hurricanes were 37-1 in 8.5 overs when the match was called off.
