A boat captain and a bowman have been arrested following the discovery of an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun and 67 matching cartridges which were found concealed in the bow of their boat.
Police headquarters revealed on Saturday that a Joint Services exercise, which included ranks of the Police Force, Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) and the Coast Guard, stopped and searched the vessel.
The ranks were operating at the Floating Base located at the Pomeroon River Mouth.
The Captain has been identified as a 28-year-old man of Jacklow, Pomeroon, and the bowman is said to be a 32-year-old resident, also from Jacklow, Pomeroon.
Police said they have admitted ownership of the illegal items and are in custody pending charges.
