The body of a 21-year-old man was Monday morning found in a pool of blood at his hometown of Number 69 Village, Berbice.
He has been identified as Mahendra Sooknandan, a self-employed Block Maker.
News Room understands that the body, which was discovered by passersby, bore several stab wounds.
Sooknandan left his home on Sunday at around 20:00hrs to visit his uncle in the same village but never returned.
This is according to the victim’s father, Chandrika Sooknandan, 53.
“It’s very hurtful for a parent to lose his son,” the father cried during an interview with the News Room.
“I work very hard, I worked very hard to grow them,” he noted.
An eyewitness told News Room that earlier Sunday, the young Sooknandan was engaged in a conversation with three persons.
Two persons have been held for questioning as police investigate the alleged murder.
