A 70-year-old housewife was today shot to her right arm and robbed of an undisclosed sum of cash and cellular phone, shortly after visiting a city bank.
The incident occurred on Laluni Street, Queenstown at about 13:15hrs.
Police said the woman, along with her husband, visited a city bank where she withdrew a sum of cash and after several stops with their car, they proceeded to a location in Queenstown to purchase drinking water.
Investigations revealed that the woman was left in the car while her husband went into the facility when two men rode up on a motorcycle and the pillion rider held onto the victim’s bag with the valuables.
The woman refused to let go of the bag and the suspect whipped out a handgun and discharged a round which struck her in the right arm.
The suspects then managed to escape with the handbag containing the cash and cell phone.
The victim is presently at a medical institution in a stable condition while the hunt is on for the suspects.
The Police Force did not state the name of the bank.
