Carpenter remanded on gun charge

A Carpenter of Laing Avenue, Georgetown was remanded to prison today by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan for the possession of .32 revolver when he is not a licensed firearm holder.

Paul Bishop pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that he had the illegal weapon in his possession on October 9, 2018, at Freeman Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.

Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones informed the court that Bishop was on a bicycle when Police stopped him, executed a search on his person and found the weapon in his possession.

Upon being arrested, Bishop allegedly told ranks that he found the gun in a pile of sand in front of his gate.

He was remanded to prison until October 31.
