The Rotary Club of Georgetown will host its annual Polio Walk and Mimosa Breakfast on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Republic Bank Training & Development Centre at 06:00hrs.
With over 1.2 million members around the world and 35,000+ clubs, Rotary International is known for its causes such as: Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mothers and Children, Supporting Education and Growing Local Economies.
Since the inception of its Polio program in 1985, there has been a 99.9% reduction in the number of polio cases, the organisation noted.
Furthermore, it noted that their efforts have not only ended the disease in 122 countries but it has also created a system for tracking other health priorities, such as Ebola.
