V-Net Communications in partnership with Canadian based realtor Wazeer Dahar has donated 20 coloured outfits to the Zeelandia Cricket Team of Island of Wakenam. The donation was made by Safraz Sheriffudeen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the satellite company located on Delph Street, Campbellville.

Sheriffudeen expressed that the donation is part of the company’s continued efforts to play a greater role in social development of communities and by default, individuals. This is not the first time, the entity has extended its arm of benevolence as in the past it would have sponsored cricket tournaments on the island of Wakenam and assisted its brand ambassador, Windies all-rounder Keemo Paul, with giving back to his native Saxacalli.

Dahar, who is a former member of the club, explained he was elated to partner with V-Net Communications, given the company’s emphasis towards the development of youths. The duo hopes they can impact more club positively in the Wakenman area and other clubs in Essequibo.

Ricardo Adams, currently playing for the Guyana Jaguars in the regional Super50, is a product of the club which has over 60 years of heritage.

Club captain Navishaul Pooran was not short on extending gratitude for the timely donation, which according to him will be extremely useful to the young members of the club, which has approximately 76 active members.

Pooran himself is a part of the notable history of the club and island, being the lone batsman from the club and island to date to score a double century (222) in a club match against Sans Souci in 2010.
