A 53-year-old Stabroek Market Vendor, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman on Tuesday, charged with being in possession of 410 grams of cannabis and possession of 24 ecstasy pills.

Judith Alexander, a mother of 10, pleaded not guilty to two drug trafficking charges and was remanded to prison until November 7.

Particulars of the charge alleged that on October 15, 2018, at her Newtown Kitty, Georgetown residence, she had the drugs in her possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The court heard that ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch searched the woman’s home when they found the drugs in a pink suitcase in a bedroom on the lower flat of the apartment.

The court was told that when the accusation was put to Alexander by the ranks, she allegedly replied: “I would like to speak with my lawyer.”

She did not have legal representation in court.
