Puri vendor jailed for Ganja possession
A Puri vendor was on Wednesday sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 by Magistrate Judy Latchman after he pleaded guilty to the possession of 76 grams of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Seon Fitzgerald admitted that he had the illegal drugs in his possession on October 13, 2018, at South Sophia.
The man told the court that he found the drugs in a bag which was on the road.
Police Prosecutor, Quinn Harris revealed that ranks from the Police Narcotics Branch were on mobile patrol when they observed Fitzgerald acting in a suspicious manner.
They conducted a search on his person when the drugs were found.
Fitzgerald begged for leniency as he told the court that he is the sole breadwinner for his family. He did not have legal representation.
